Today's Craft Project

I was in Container Store...a place that blows my type-A mind. I have always loved the page flags:

So I decided to get crafty with them and came up with this design on mat board, using Mod Podge to stick and seal.

Corgi of the Day

A requirement for anything I do online tends to involve our just-about 15-year old Corgi, Hampton.

So, with great respect for the dog that he is, he will be featured once a day with his own post:

And on Sports

With the Olympics being the focus of the sporting world for the next two weeks, I will add my two cents.

I was extremely disappointed and frankly pissed off by US women's goalkeeper, Hope Solo's, tweets post-Saturday's match. She took Brandi Chastain, NBC commentator and former Olympic and World Cup champion to task for a few match comments.

Really, that is what you should be doing after a game and during the Olympics. I think Solo is shallower than a red cup. I was glad to see the commentary did not support her behavior.

Sally Jenkins had this insightful column in today's Washington Post: Hope Solo Could Learn a Few Things From Brandi Chastain

I also saw Julie Foudy had some strong words for Solo: Saddened by Hope Solo's Tweets

As a "Title IX" kid, I think Foudy, Chastain, Mia Hamm and others have every right to commentate, critique and really do whatever they want. Women's sports in general, not just soccer, wouldn't even be close to where they are today, still far from parody with men's sports, but at least well on to the map without those pioneering women.

If Solo wants to sell her crazy book two days after the Olympics, that is fine. But she is playing a team sport, and her selfish, headline grabbing comments, are ill-timed and unwarranted.

Today's Craft Project

The perfect way to keep summer collectibles year-round. Or buy a bunch of shells with various textures and keep the beach close even when it gets cold outside.

I took a bunch of shells, an Ikea deep frame, placed the frame flat on its front, filled up the shells, so you can still get the back flush and there you have it.

What an easy way to bring some of the outside, inside.

Welcome

I spend hours watching sports and more hours crafting, so I felt it was time to combine my two passions in one place. And I can share this place with others.

Check back often for the craft projects I am working on, with how-to instructions.

And of course, I will wax poetic about sports...I mean the Olympics are on right now, baseball season is in full swing and it is summer, the perfect time to get outside and try something new.
